Please read these terms carefully before using the OCDSA member portal and services.

Welcome to the Oakland County Deputy Sheriff's Association (OCDSA) online services. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website, member portal, shift bidding system, and all related services (collectively, the "Services"). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using the OCDSA Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with these Terms, you may not use our Services.

These Terms apply to all members of the Oakland County Deputy Sheriff's Association, including active deputies, retired members, and authorized representatives.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify members of any material changes via email or through the member portal. Your continued use of the Services after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Member Accounts

2.1 Account Registration

To access certain features of our Services, you must register for an account using your official badge number and department-issued email address. You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.

2.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must immediately notify OCDSA of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security.

2.3 Account Eligibility

Accounts are available only to current OCDSA members in good standing. Membership status is verified through our records and the Oakland County Sheriff's Office human resources department.

3. Use of Services

3.1 Permitted Use

Our Services are provided exclusively for OCDSA members to:

  • Access union information and resources
  • Participate in the shift bidding process
  • View and manage personal employment information
  • Communicate with union representatives
  • Access member benefits and services
  • Submit grievances and requests for representation

3.2 Prohibited Use

You may not use our Services to:

  • Violate any local, state, or federal law or regulation
  • Harass, intimidate, or harm other members or staff
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any systems or data
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Services or servers
  • Transmit any viruses, malware, or malicious code
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Share or distribute confidential union or member information

4. Shift Bidding System

4.1 Bidding Rules

The shift bidding system operates according to the collective bargaining agreement and department policies. All bids are processed based on seniority and qualification requirements.

4.2 Bid Submission

Members are responsible for submitting accurate and timely bids during designated bidding periods. Late submissions may not be accepted except as provided in the collective bargaining agreement.

4.3 System Availability

While we strive to maintain system availability during bidding periods, OCDSA is not responsible for technical issues beyond our control. Members should submit bids well before deadlines to avoid potential issues.

4.4 Bid Finality

Once a bidding period closes and assignments are processed, results are final except as provided for in the collective bargaining agreement or by mutual agreement of affected parties.

5. Code of Conduct

All users of OCDSA Services must maintain professional conduct consistent with law enforcement standards and union principles. This includes:

  • Treating all members and staff with respect and dignity
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Using Services only for legitimate union purposes
  • Reporting any security concerns or violations promptly
  • Cooperating with union investigations when requested

Violations of this code of conduct may result in suspension or termination of access to Services and potential disciplinary action according to union bylaws.

6. Privacy & Data Protection

Your privacy is important to us. Our use of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

By using our Services, you consent to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in our Privacy Policy. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data.

Members have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of their personal data, subject to legal and contractual obligations.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on the OCDSA Services, including text, graphics, logos, images, and software, is the property of OCDSA or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Members may download and print materials from the Services for personal, non-commercial use related to union activities. Any other use requires prior written permission from OCDSA.

The OCDSA name, logo, and all related marks are trademarks of the Oakland County Deputy Sheriff's Association. Unauthorized use is strictly prohibited.

8. Disclaimers & Limitations

8.1 Service Availability

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Services.

8.2 Information Accuracy

While we strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information, OCDSA makes no representations about the completeness, accuracy, or reliability of any information on the Services.

8.3 Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OCDSA shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Services.

8.4 Legal Advice

Information provided through the Services does not constitute legal advice. Members requiring legal representation should contact the union directly for assistance.

9. Termination

Access to Services may be terminated:

  • Upon termination of OCDSA membership
  • For violation of these Terms or union bylaws
  • For conduct detrimental to the union or its members
  • Upon retirement or separation from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office
  • By mutual agreement

Upon termination, your right to use the Services will immediately cease. OCDSA may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Services shall be resolved through the grievance procedures outlined in the OCDSA bylaws and collective bargaining agreement.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
